Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors for the HPC Community

The growth of data and the need for compute is just expanding. And our customers and the community are using high-performance computing to solve problems that have never even been thought of before. Whether they're trying to look for drug discovery, or finding more oil underneath the Gulf of Mexico, or even reduce the number of prototypes they need in the manufacturing process, they're using high-performance computing to solve those problems.

The HPC community faces a number of challenges. They need more memory, more power, more I/O. And they really need a balanced system that fits within that whole total cost of ownership. Intel has created a scalable system framework in order to provide the full ecosystem. It's the compute nodes. It's the software. It's the fabric, and the storage. We offer that whole platform to help them with a balance system.

The Intel Xeon Scalable Processors are going to bring a huge leap in performance to the HPC community. We are providing more cores, 50% more memory channels, and more PCI Express lanes. We also are including some specific HPC functions, including integrating our Omni-Path Architecture and adding ABX512. This is a two-times performance leap over our current processor. And the average or normal data center, it's going to be eight-times performance leap.

The HPC community is very excited about artificial intelligence and deep learning. In fact, they're already using our Xeon Processors to solve most of these problems. Intel has a solution for artificial intelligence, and we're going to be creating more and more specific solutions in the future.
