Summary

Contains things to consider when using multi-vendor teaming to team an Intel® Ethernet Adapter with an adapter of another manufacturer.

Description

Teaming is not functioning correctly when using an Intel® Ethernet Adapter and an adapter of another manufacturer.

Resolution

In most cases teaming an Intel® Ethernet Adapter with another manufacturer's adapter will be a workable scenario.

For general teaming considerations, see Teaming Intel® Advanced Network Services.

Recommendations when teaming two Ethernet adapters from different manufacturers:

  1. Make sure drivers are up to date on both adapters.
  2. In some cases, the adapters require the same make, model, and firmware.
  3. Contact the manufacturer of the adapter and see if they support teaming with other manufacturers.
  4. Verify that the team policy that is being used. A simple (Port ID–based) policy may help to avoid any compatibility issues. Try different teaming policies to find one that works.
