Why doesn’t the F-tile PMA/FEC Direct PHY Intel® FPGA IP design configured in either SATA or USB mode work or function accordingly?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.3, the F-Tile PMA/FEC Direct PHY Intel® FPGA IP design configured in either SATA or USB mode will not function as intended.

The transmitter PMA electrical idle feature, squelch detect feature, and signal detect feature targeting these two protocol modes will not work as intended. Test results using these two protocol modes with the mentioned features will not function accordingly and won’t be guaranteed.

This is due to software-related features and rule-based configurations not being implemented correctly in the Intel Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 22.3.

    Resolution

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software.
